Characteristic

bulldog 300x214 CharacteristicThe English Boston-Bulldog is not a pure breed of dog, but rather, it is a hybrid breed of dog that is comprised of the English Bulldog and the Boston Terrier, two exceptional dog breeds. Because of this mixing of breeds, it is not always easy to determine what

any individual dog will be like. That will depend largely on how much of each of the original breeds that they have in them as well as what floats to the top on the genetic make up. It will also depend on whether the mix was of two pure bred parents or if the parenting dogs were both mixes themselves. This mating of two mixed breed dogs is what is referred to as a multi-generation cross.

Although a litter of pups cannot necessarily be pre-determined regarding what they will look or act like in any exact way, there are some characteristics that do seem quite common in the English Boston-Bulldog. The following are brief descriptions of the physical and personal characteristics of the English Boston-Bulldog in general that may help you decide if this is the dog that would be a good fit for you or for your family.

*Physical Characteristics

bulldog pds 300x256 CharacteristicThe English Boston-Bulldog has a medium sized body that is solid and compact, but they should not be overly fatty. These dogs should be well-muscled and athletic. Both of the originating breeds may be prone to becoming overweight (especially as they age) so care should be taken so this doesn’t happen to your English Boston-Bulldog. Obesity in dogs is just as detrimental to their health as it is to that of humans, even causing death in some cases. The legs should be square and the tail is long and tapered, thicker at the base and gradually getting thinner towards the end. It is held in the slightly upward position and is raised more when the dog is interested in or excited about something.
